Thinking. Writing challenge. One.
I found a book in the library this week called A Novel in a Year which is a spinoff from this series of newspaper columns from 2006 by novelist Louise Doughty.
In it the author sets a series of writing challenges which I thought were kind of cool. I thought I'd like to do them, and blog them, and see if anyone else wanted to join in.
So at the risk of blatantly ripping off her writing exercises, allow me to share her first one.
Finish this opening sentence to a short story. You can write one or two extra sentences if you like:
"The day after my eighth birthday my father told me..."
Now, who wants to play?
