Angry boy
Being off the big meds is getting hard. Bright Eyes has been angry for the last week. He is like a powder keg, ready to explode, and his little brother is bearing the brunt of his attacks.
I spoke to the doctor about it. She's increasing his zinc levels (even more!!) and said that it may be that other metals are causing the aggravation. Otherwise the reason could be just that he's exhausted because he always has to work so hard to get through the day. Life is not easy for him, that's for sure.
The doctor also says he has to have fish oil. And lots of it. Which would be ok, except of course, he won't swallow pills or capsules, and he hates the smell and taste of fish oil. Sigh.
Luckily, we found this in the supermarket. And it doesn't have much of an odour at all.
In the middle of the night it occurred to me that I could put it into soft-centred chocolates. So, I melted his dairy-free chocolate and coated the sides of an ice cube tray. Then I mixed the fish oil with dairy-free chocolate spread and filled the inside and topped it off with more melted chocolate mixed with vitamin B6 powder. Tricky. But it worked, and he ate one today. We'll see if they continue to go down over the next few days.
Here's a rundown of the current therapy regime.
Morning:
Juice with zinc and fibre, evening primrose oil rubbed into skin, homeopathic tablets of SAM-e, and B6 in a specially made chocolate. Plus half an hour of listening therapy with his portable headphones and walkman. Odourless fish oil added to whatever I cook him for his packed lunch.
Evening: 10 -15 minutes of coordination exercises given by the therapist, plus more zinc and fibre, an overnight laxative, a fish oil chocolate, more SAM-e.
Over the next few weeks, I have to add more vegetables!!! And a pro-biotic!!! Aaagh.
